Im trying to do a flow/cfd analysis on a formula student car. I’ve followed the “Tutorial: Incompressible Flow around a Formula Student Car” but with my own FS-car Cad file. I have done everything I could think of to resolve the issue; Adjusting “Small Features Suppression”, Increasing fineness of the problematic area (Neck of the driver) to Default size = 0.001 and min=0.0005. Reuploading my cad file and doing it again. Wrapping the cad fil instead. There I got meshing issues due to “Self intersection” at the wing, which I couldn’t see when zooming in on the coordinates however. What can I do?File
Thanks in advance! Kindest regards
Hi,
Quick question: have you tried to import the geometry with different formats?
Hi Ricardo,
I have only tried importing the file from Onshape. Do you recommend me doing something else? Thanks
It could be still from Onshape, but trying other formats (e.g. exporting as .step) might be a good idea for testing purposes.
Another thing that I would test: mirror the CAD model in Onshape, import the full CAD model (not just half of it), create the flow region based on the full geometry, and then split the flow region. It looks like the model is slightly away from the origin in the y direction, which may also cause some problems.
Thank you very much! This helped. Have a great day!![]()
